UPDATE - John Doe was identified c. November 2022 according to "Unidentified Wiki". The Doe Network confirmed this and his (John Doe's) page from NamUs was also taken down around the same time. For Markus, however, various outlets "still" list him as "missing". As for CBT, "tentatively" the case has been resolved. We will continue to update you all if there is new information available when it comes to this particular case. Thank you to anybody that has help spread this information and to reunite the young man who we believe is "Markus" to his love ones.

MARLBORO, NEW JERSEY - MONMOUTH COUNTY JOHN DOE
DATE OF DISCOVERY: APRIL 28, 2002
DETAILS OF THE CASE
A Marlboro, NJ family discovered a 55-gallon steel drum that had been dumped on their residential property. The steel drum had been originally located in a ravine on the property which contained a small stream. The drum was moved to the end of the driveway by family members. The family believes that the drum was placed on their property no earlier than the night of April 18, 2002.
On April 29, 2002, members of the Marlboro Police Department and the Monmouth County Health Department went to the property to remove the steel drum. The drum was found to be welded shut. Health Department officials utilized a probe to examine the interior of the drum and something solid was discovered.
The Major Crimes and Forensics Units of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office immediately became involved. When the drum was opened, the body of a markedly decomposed, fully clothed adult male was discovered. No wallet or other identification was found with the body. The individual may be from central or northern NJ or one of the five boroughs of New York City.

ATTIRE: A short-sleeved red, white, blue, and yellow striped golf-type shirt with an inner tag reading Chaps Ralph Lauren and a size XL (NOTE: The words Chaps and Ralph Lauren are printed randomly all over the shirt. The shirt was available only for six months because it was not a big seller. Originally sold at Macy's, the shirt made its way to Marshalls and T.J. Maxx department stores for clearance in its short run. Investigators believe the shirt was given to the man as a gift), Carhart utility or carpenter style jeans - size 34x32, a pair of ankle-high Chuka style black Timberland boots size 9 1/2 wide, Hanes Jockey shorts - size 38, and a belt with a 3 prong belt buckle. The jeans were buttoned and zippered closed appropriately.

He was found with two single one-dollar bills in the left front pocket of his jeans.
He had curly "black" or "brown" hair - 1/4 to 1/2 inch in length.
He has "very narrow hips", "long fingers", and "long fingernails".
He has 16 upper and 16 lower adult teeth. The lower teeth are crowded in front. There are two large spaces between various upper teeth but there is no space in the middle. There is evidence of regular dental care. Fillings and other evidence of regular care indicate that the victim's dental work was done by an American dentist.

Fingerprints are available for identification.
It is unknown if DNA is available for identification, but "full x-rays" are available.
His cause of death is "HOMICIDE".
THE COMPARISON
MARKUS LORENZANA & MONMOUTH COUNTY JOHN DOE
THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON BECAUSE OF THE FOLLOWING...
BOTH ARE WHITE
BOTH ARE MALE
BOTH HAVE THE SAME HAIR COLOR WITH JOHN DOE'S HAIR DESCRIBED AS BEING EITHER BLACK OR BROWN WITH BROWN MOST LIKELY BEING HIS HAIR COLOR BECAUSE MARKUS' NATURAL HAIR IS BROWN. THE HAIR LENGTH FOR BOTH JOHN DOE AND MARKUS IS ABOUT THE SAME AS WELL.
JOHN DOE'S EYES ARE UNKNOWN BUT MORE THAN LIKELY THEY WERE BROWN LIKE MARKUS'.
MARKUS WAS 19 YEARS OLD WHEN HE WENT MISSING. JOHN DOE IS BETWEEN 18 AND 24 YEARS OLD. SO BOTH YOUNG MEN WERE AROUND THE SAME AGE.
MARKUS WAS BETWEEN 5'10 IN HEIGHT. JOHN DOE IS ABOUT 5'11-6'1 IN HEIGHT. SO BOTH MEN'S HEIGHT ESTIMATE WAS MORE THAN LIKELY 5'10-5'11 IN HEIGHT.
MARKUS WEIGHTED 140 lbs WHILE JOHN DOE WEIGHTED BETWEEN 140-150 lbs. BOTH YOUNG MEN WEIGHED ABOUT THE SAME.
MAP OF MARKUS' DISAPPEARANCE AND JOHN DOE'S DISCOVERY
OUR THEORY
We believe Markus left and possibly stayed with someone for about a month. Since the "John Doe" was found with a unique shirt, the investigators believe it was gifted to the young man (who we believe strongly is Markus) found in the drum.
Markus could've known his killer who could've been the person who "allegedly" gifted him the shirt the investigators suspect. Since he would've been killed around the end of February (since this is the post-mortem interval for John Doe/Markus), his body could have been stored somewhere before being placed in the drum and relocated on the property of the NJ family about a month in a half later.
Markus could've also met his demise by a random assailant as well.
PLUS, MARKUS AND THE JOHN DOE LOOK CANDIDLY ALIKE WITH BOTH YOUNG MEN "LITERALLY" HAVING THE SAME FEATURES WITHOUT GOING INTO SPECIFICS.
SO IF THIS IS "MARKUS" - AND WE ARE SURE IT IS HIM - WE HOPE HIS FAMILY HAS THE CLOSURE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR AND THAT JUSTICE IS SERVED TO THE PERSON THAT TOOK HIS LIFE.
